Workaround for when Google Scholar gives reCAPTCHA errors.

Google Scholar reCAPTCHA errors

During periods of unusually high usage, Google Scholar may begin asking AFRL customers to fill out a reCAPTCHA widget to prove they're not robots. Unfortunately, there is a security bug in this widget that may result in "Invalid domain for site key" errors for customers who are using the Library's EZproxy service.

If you run into this error when trying to access full-text articles in Google Scholar, there is a way to work around it:

Workaround

Workaround:  If you have your own personal Google account, link it to the Library:

  1. Go directly to the un-proxied version of Google Scholar at https://scholar.google.com/ .
  2. Click the "Sign In" button and log in with your Google account.
  3. From the menu icon (the three bars at the top left), select "Settings", then "Library Links".
  4. In the Library Links section of the Settings menu, search for "AFRL". Select the checkbox next to "AFRL D'Azzo Research Library - Connect via AFRL Library" then click the "Save" button in the lower right.
  5. Save and return to the Google Scholar homepage. You now should be able to search Google Scholar without using AFRL's EZproxy service, but still see the "Connect via AFRL Library" links that lead you to our full-text resources.
