The average turnaround time for fulfillment is between one and seven days; however depending on the availability of the item it may take two weeks or longer to fill a request.
If an Interlibrary Loan book is lost, the AFRL patron will be responsible for replacement of the book. Patrons who abuse library privileges by repeatedly returning books late may be denied further Interlibrary Loan services.
AFRL scientists and engineers (military, civilian, and contractor) may email the library using the address below to place requests for interlibrary loan (ILL) of materials not available in the AFRL D'Azzo Research Library collection and for items that are housed in our Annex facility. Please check the library's online holdings before requesting materials - eJournals/eBooks search or library catalog. For technical reports, please only request if not available in the library catalog or DTIC.
Before an interlibrary loan request can be filled, the customer must have a valid library card registered with the library. Once an interlibrary loan is processed, it will be immediately checked out to the requesting customer's account. The customer must then present their library card when picking up the item(s) at the library circulation desk.
When submitting an interlibrary loan request, please provide as much citation information as is known. Customers may submit multiple items per email request. The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted materials. Under certain provisions specified in the law, libraries and other archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be 'used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.' If the user makes a request for and later uses a copy or reproduction for purposes in excess of 'fair use'" that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
The AFRL Library reserves the right to refuse to accept an Interlibrary Loan request if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violations of copyright law.
